Unique Graduate Portrait Session In Murfreesboro

This was a senior session unlike any other. Lynnita contacted me about doing a belated graduate session to commemorate her graduation from the Nursing School at Cumberland University. As an RN myself, I was so thrilled to capture this joyous milestone! But, there was a twist. A few weeks before graduation, Lynnita’s husband tragically and unexpectedly lost his life. Her request was to do a very unique session… one that celebrated her remarkable achievement, while also honoring his life as a combat veteran, husband, and father.

I was filled with butterflies as the session approached, and not sure what to expect. I wanted to provide Lynnita with a session that would put her at ease, promote healing, and celebrate her accomplishment! She arrived with a bag of mementos that she had saved, and then she told me their story of love. Right there in the parking lot we laughed, we cried, and she remembered. Several items were used during the session that were of special significance. His hat that he wore everywhere. A note that simply stated “Love You”. His wedding ring. His dog tags. His folded flag.

Lynnita, I will forever treasure this time spent with you. You are a strong and courageous woman. I saw bravery, tenderness, joy in the midst of grief, so much love, and a faith that could move a mountain. Thank you for being vulnerable and sharing your story. And congratulations on your achievement! Murfreesboro has gained a fantastic RN!
